That NYT Mag profile of The National was one of the stranger things to pop up in recent years, but they are streaming the new album over there, so there's that.

Think of all the bands that they could profile. Think about how many profiles they do in a year -- maybe four? Is The National really one of the four most interesting things they could have written about?

hey hey - <a href="http://mashable.com/2010/04/26/twitter-dmca/" target="_blank">twitter issued a DMCA takedown</a> on a tweet referencing a leaked track - or was it the totally legal released track on pitchfork. who can be sure.

The profile was notably long, but the National are a "local(ish)" band that are selling out multiple nights near instantly in New York. And the new album is really great.
