my theory is that NBC gave him this show knowing it would fail, which in turn would semi-permanently eliminate his viability as a competitor to Conan on another network.

I've watched the show twice since it aired Monday night. Both times the best response I could muster is "meh". If that is the future of TV then we're really rather doomed. <br /><br /> <br /><br /> I was no fan of John Melendez but could the current announcer sound any more bored in the intro? Put some enthusiasm into your work sir.
