I don't understand Scoble's post. He wants to suggest that facebook's redesign is a transition point from phase 4 to 5; that is, from a user-based social network to a social network with business content. But the problem folks have is in the redesign, not the inclusion of advertisers. Like Twitter, the site now lacks adequate filters to prioritize updates. What Zuckerberg needs to implement is an algorithmic recommendation engine that learns what each user wants to see, not just for advertisers, but for user content as well. I can't believe that we have to manually "hide" people we don't want to see updates from--the facebook update should first and foremost figure out how to take care of that on the back end (viz, measure clickthroughs and time spent on friend pages).

Using words like "decades" and "trillions" makes me wonder how he ended up on the edit floor of your blow hard chart.
