Charitini
I helped Rachel launch a new thing today: Charitini. For the moment, it's a hub around doing charitable giving for her birthday, but she's got big plans with expanding it.

If ever there were a time when "beta" meant something, it's this instance. About 5% of Rachel's ideas are represented on that site.<br /><br /> <br /><br />

Nice! Can't wait to see the go-live. You know, I've been thinking of making something along the lines of Charitini to let people organize their charitable giving and share their ideas about it. <br /><br /> <br /><br /> Here's the idea: people who are interested in nonprofits and have informed opinions about which organizations are good and which aren't so good can share their knowledge and experiences (beyond the Network For Good model of just listing the orgs you like.) So then if you're thinking about giving to a certain org, you can read opinions/reviews of that org by other people who care about this stuff and by people who evaluate various nonprofits for a living (e.g. work at a foundation.) Sort of like give.org, but more subjective and interactive, and also with more invites to parties at bars. <br /><br />

Amy - thanks for the suggestion! Definitely one of the things we're still considering. (See above re: beta!) We did a lot of research prior to jumping in and Richard Waldvogel in particular is a whiz on all this stuff. I agree that transparency should be part of this though, in addition to parties at bars.

I can attest, like Rex, that the current view of Charitini and Rachel's bigger vision of what is going to happen with the site is barely represented and the ideas are awesome! Can't wait!
