Stay Positive

Because everyone seemed to completely forget about The Hold Steady this year, which is only more proof that history is dying and long-term memory has become short-term memory and short-term memory has become a dream: video for The Hold Steady's "Stay Positive," which is something of an homage to NYC streets.

Also in the category of "the forgotten," R.E.M. just re-released Murmer. Pitchfork gave it the 10.

I was once at a party with Michael Stipe and noticed him in the corner, so I amused myself by singing, "That's him in the corner, that's him in the spotlight, losing his religion..." It's the little things.

Also, "Night Swimming" and "Everybody Hurts" still get me, every time.

Im not sure its lis tof list worthy but Im def giving The Hold Steady Owen's artist of the year title. I was leaning towards My Morning jacket because their cd got some degree of difficulty points that the Hold Steady werent getting and Yeezy was make a late a push(although I cant decidd whether I hate or love 808's) but in the end The Hold Steady get the check in the left column from me.

I'm arguing that everybody forgot about THS because they're an unappealing mixture of Bob Seger, OAR and a sweaty, meth-fueled accounting pool.
