Indeed, I paid $12.99 for the album and I have more regret than Jason Robards in Magnolia.

Ah, I dunno. Most people got it for free. I read before the online version was released that there would be extra tracks on the physical cd. (Eight, I think.) Either way, I figured the majority of people would just "get" those extra tracks somehow...

This is kind of like a video game being released for one system and then coming out on another system six months later with bonus content. Or maybe like a game selling later with the expansion packs.

Not something I've seen in the music industry before, but definitely something that's been around I think.

Time + Content = Less Valuable Content

Older Content + New Content = Slightly More Valuable Content

That said, if I dropped a bunch of money (more than a normal amount) on it, I might be a little pissed.

How's that for a cop out?

The difference on the iPhone was $200. The maximum difference to aquire the additional tracks is something like $15. But if I'd spent more then that on the IR download, I'd have no major qualms "just 'getting' those tracks somehow."

But if I'd spent anything more than that (and actually, even though i didn't) I'd feel a little gipped by the very EXISTENCE of a physical version of the album. What, exactly, did i buy?
