Radiohead Amazes Me

This is one of the weirdest things I've seen in music in a long time: Radiohead has just announced they have a new album coming out... in 10 days. I don't think anyone even knew they were making a new record. Some strange pre-order and format info on the site for the album: In Rainbows. UPDATE: the price for download will be left up to the individual buyer. Amazing.

I don't think anyone even knew they were making a new record

There's been a lot of strange stuff out there on Radiohead lately... some of it false I guess. Some of them had a bunch of wacky clues that people started to piece together as a new Radiohead album coming in March '08. I thought I also read that they were mastering an album in NYC a few months ago.

They've been posting about the album on their blog for a couple years now. (Rex, this is a sad day for you when I know something musical is happening and you don't.)

Okay, I knew there was this theoretical album out there, but I don't think anyone knew it was even remotely close to finished.... maybe I'm wrong.

I'm excited about this for a really simple reason. No advance copies, no leaks, no spoiler reviews; everyone who wants to will be hearing this for the first time, together, on October 10. How novel!

(I hope I'm not wrong about this)

I had no ethical qualms whatsoever pre-ordering the album at my self-chosen price of £0.00.
