Gears Of War

It seems gauche to link to items that both Jason and Robin already got to, but I can't let this Gears of War promo go by. (Song reminder: that's a cover of Tears for Fears' "Mad World," which appeared on the Donnie Darko soundtrack.)

I was at Marie Antoinette last weekend and this 'preview' played before the movie. I was immediately engaged from the song because I knew I had heard it before and that it had been in a context that I enjoyed. It took me a few minutes to piece the together visual in my head, but eventually I got to Donnie Darko and was happy. Then it struck me that I remember movies in much the same way I remember ex-girlfriends and I felt a little shallow.

I'm much better at remembering movies, actually.

So many fanboys are actually angry about that song being used.<br /><br /> One of the kids I teach told me all about how the game MUST be bad if they're using a "wuss" song.<br /><br /> No accounting for taste, I guess.

Thank you <strong>THANK YOU</strong> for the song reminder. I knew I heard it before, and could not remember what the significance of that song was (T4F cover). That commercial is eerie....I now want an Xbox)

Non, il est un cover.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mad_World_(song)" target="_blank">"Mad World" <br /> </a><br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The original is from 1982. This cover is from Gary Jules, used in <em>Donnie Darko</em>.<br /> <br />
